GARY, Ind—The Gary SouthShore RailCats (6-7) fell to the Kansas City T-Bones (6-7) by a score of 6-2 on Wednesday despite getting a start from their ace Charle Rosario. The T-Bones have now evened the season series at three games apiece.

Kansas City jumped in front 1-0 on back-to-back hits by Omar Garcia and Marcus Lemon to begin game. Garcia singled to center on the first pitch of the game before Lemon brought him home on the second pitch he saw with an RBI double to the left-center wall.

Kevin Keyes ended Rosario’s streak of nine in a row with his league-leading fifth home run of the year to begin the fourth. The homer for Keyes was also his third in as many games.

Kansas City extended their lead to 3-0 in the fifth on a two-out RBI double down the right field line from Garcia. Garcia would later steal third and then come around to score on a wild pitch from Rosario to extend the lead to four. Daniel Rockett led off the inning with a single to center before Leo Rojas singled to left for his first hit of the series. After Eddie Newton grounded into a 6-4-3 double play, Garcia followed with his second hit of the evening.

The RailCats got on the board in the bottom half of the fifth with a Chase Harris sacrifice fly that scored Ryan Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald led off the inning by hitting a bloop double to shallow right-center field, and advanced to third on a Randy Santiesteban fielder’s choice. 

The T-Bones added on in the seventh when Keyes was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded that scored Rojas. This was the first pitch Laeten Galbraith threw in relief. The next batter, Zach Walters, hit a sacrifice fly bringing in Eddie Newton.

The RailCats would claw back in the eighth when Jaime Del Valle brought in Anthony Cheky with an RBI fielder’s choice with the bases loaded and none out. Cheky reached base with a leadoff single in the inning and would advance to second on Frank Martinez’s walk, and then to third on Alex Crosby’s single.

Rosario (1-2, 5.25 ERA) threw 6 ^1/3 innings giving up six runs, on eight hits, struck out five, while walking three.

Kansas City’s Gabe Perez (2-0, 2.60 ERA) went seven innings while giving up only one earned run on five hits. He also struck out four and walked three.

Gary wraps up their seven-game homestand and four-game series vs. Kansas City on Thursday at 7:10 p.m. Southpaw Alex Gunn (1-0, 2.70) squares up against Kansas City right-hander Chris Perry (0-1, 9.39) in the series finale.
