Competition was at its finest this past weekend at the PrimeTime Sports EYB Classic in North Dallas.

The tournament was spread over three locations around the Metroplex — with most of the action centralized to Swisher’s Court in Lake Dallas with some games at Denton and Denton Ryan. The tournament featured teams ranging from 17U to 5th grade grassroots clubs.

Over 100 boys teams from across the country competed against each other and over 80 games were live-streamed on the PrimeTime Sports Network.

Team Elite Ballers took home the trophy for the 17U while Rising Stars from Houston claimed the 16U title.

Other winners of the event included Team Overtime (15U), Tyler Spurs (14U), Teams Texas 2020 (7th grade), Texas Gators Elite (6th grade), and Dallas Mustangs (5th grade).

One of the top prospects in attendance was Class of 2017 forward from Aldine Davis, Royce Hamm, who competed with Mesmerize Elite program.

He performed well on both ends of the court and was one of the brightest stars in action, impressing Future150.com Southwest Regional analyst Ani Umana.

“Royce is one of the top players in Texas, in his class, and showed why this weekend,” Umana said.

In addition to scouting evaluations from Future150, an NBA Officiating camp took place during the EYB Classic — a rarity on the grassroots circuit.

Swisher’s Court played host to hopeful referee candidates who were working the games to be evaluated in an attempt to advance their careers. The goal of the camp was for administrators to evaluate the promising NBA-level talent and get baseline scores to see which candidates would advance in the process.

The opportunity to have potential NBA referees calling games made for one the better, more efficiently run tournaments in the spring circuit.

PrimeTime Sports CEO David Stephens was on hand for the EYB Classica and said that it was an unqualified success.

“The 2nd Annual EYB Classic was simply tremendous this past weekend,” he said. “The combination of boys’ elite level play, top notch officiating from the NBA evaluation camp, and extensive media coverage created a great experience for everyone.

“We look forward to many of the teams returning to PrimeTime throughout the summer, including the National Basketball Championship in July.”

PrimeTime Sports has a full schedule of event over the next three months, with the season culminating with the PrimeTime Sports National Basketball Championship, July 22-26, in Dallas, TX.

That event is the largest basketball championship in the country with over 900 teams playing on one weekend. The Championship is an NCAA certified event for boys and girls teams, with several scouting services committed to covering the Championship.
