As the explosion of youth and high school sports continues, there’s only one problem. Where to play?

On the north side of Houston, the MI3 Center has opened its doors to the sports and corporate communities and beyond. Nestled on FM 1960 near Interstate-45, the MI3 Center is a 150,000 square-foot facility ready to serve the fourth largest city in the country.

“We feel there is a void out there for places for kids to just come and do activities,” director of operations Mark Irabor said. “The YMCAs are shrinking and the funding for Boys and Girls Clubs is significantly less these days. Our vision is to provide a friendly facility that is accessible for everyone in the city to come and play sports and learn in a first-class environment.”

The MI3 Center’s biggest draw is the hardwood basketball and volleyball gym. There are six regulation high school basketball courts and volleyball courts ready to host the city’s best athletes from elementary students, to high schoolers to adults.

“We will be hosting boys’ and girls’ volleyball and basketball leagues and tournaments on a weekly basis,” he said. “Even for adults to get their game on. Zumba classes, dodge ball, our Silver Sneaker program for seniors are also all available.”

MI3 is proud to launch their three-week summer basketball league for the AAU, home-school and private school community. The weekend league will be covered by Future 150 during the non-live period, giving players the opportunity to get in competitive games, build consistent stats and measureables and get noticed.

“We will have accurate stats during the league that we will be packaging and sending to mid-major programs and junior colleges,” he said. “We are excited to see this take off and help these players live out their dreams.”

In the spring, MI3 will be home a youth and adult soccer leagues as well as football camps on their grass fields. Everything from kid field days to boot camps can be held outside.

The MI3 Academy is also a cornerstone to the facility. Their before and after-school program is for children from three to 13-years-old, where the MI3 staff is interactive, energetic, personable and professional. They work with students to implement a fair and consistent discipline policy, positive reward systems and a respectful environment.

The program is based on several enrichment components including art, sports, drama, cooking, music and team-building.

MI3 also has a state-of-the-art fitness facility open to memberships along with conference rooms and a restaurant to serve the community.
