Dallas Tip Off Classic Brings the Best Together

By: Matt Reese

In Dallas, the club basketball scene is on the rise.

The Metroplex is starting to gain national recognition when it comes to producing some of the top basketball talent in the women’s and men’s game. Clubs across DFW have begun to compete for well-known, and upcoming talent in the world of basketball.

With that, however, came a “dark cloud of animosity,” according to Stacy Houston of DJH5.

Enter the Dallas Tip Off Classic.

As part of PrimeTime’s Exposure Circuit, the DTOC will be played on April 1-3, 2016 in Duncanville, Texas and Cedar Hill, Texas. In addition, PrimeTime is partnering with the Dallas MustangsDallas ShowtymeNike Pro Skills and DJH5 to bring the best competition possible to the Metroplex.

“We wanted to have a collective effort in the Dallas basketball community,” Houston said. “We wanted to show these young athletes that we can work together to give them as much exposure as possible.”

“That’s our main goal,” Houston added. “We want our players to be successful, to get scholarships and to become productive citizens in our community.”

Houston’s DJH5, an Adidas program, alongside Showtyme, Dallas Mustangs (Adidas) and Nike Pro Skills make up some of the top basketball clubs in DFW, came together and will all be participating in the DTOC. Other programs, like Nike D1 Premier have joined the movement as well.

Like the rest of PrimeTime’s Exposure events, several recruiting and scouting services will be in attendance to take in the best talent in North Texas. Along side the likes of Future 150, LoneStar Prep Spotlight, Play Hoops, Girlz Prep, Take My Talent and Texas Top 100, will be VYPE DFW, which will provide media coverage of the High School age groups.

“We feel blessed to be partnered with PrimeTime Sports for this event,” Houston said. “When it comes to tournament organization and execution, David [Stephens] and PrimeTime are one of the best in the country. This only enhances what we as ambassadors of the DFW basketball game can bring to the event.”
