PrimeTime to Pro LeaguesBy: PTS
From the courts of Prime Time tournaments to the small country of Luxembourg, Roger Franklin has had a decorated basketball career. Franklin began his career in the fifth grade playing in PrimeTime events on various select teams around the Dallas area. He won his first National title in Seventh, and received his first college offer, from Baylor University, in the Eighth grade. Franklin continued his basketball reign at Duncanville high school where his team won a national championship in the 06-07 school year. “Every time you stepped into that gym, you felt fortunate to be surrounded by so much pure talent”, Franklin said. Although at the time Baylor was his only college offer, Franklin received tons of other offers in his high school career, and ended up playing the game he loves at Oklahoma State University. After two years at Oklahoma State, Franklin took his college career to the University of North Texas so he could “be closer to home in a time of family trauma”. Roger Franklin then took his game to Europe and played in Holland and Luxembourg. When asked what was the major difference in playing basketball in the USA vs. Europe? Franklin responded, “The style of play is different. The fundamentals of the game are way better there (Europe) because they put more time and effort into them”. Roger also commented that “kids would be better off getting a Europe flavor in their game” because it will make you better at adapting to new environments. When asked what advice he would give to a young player, Franklin responded, “Would of course be, to never ever, ever give up on your dreams”. Roger believes that you have to be mentally tough to get through all that life throws at you on and off the court. Where his game will end up next? We can’t wait to find out. During his professional offseason, Roger Franklin works at PrimeTime Sports as a site manager for the largest tournament company in the state of Texas. |
