Boshers Added to Railroaders Rotation01/29/2020 9:48 AM Article By: CLEBURNE, Tex. (Jan. 29, 2020) – The Cleburne Railroaders announced Wednesday the signing of right-handed pitcher Alex Boshers. Boshers (pronounced Bo-SHEERS) enters 2020 as one of the most decorated pitchers in American Association history. His 36 career league wins ranks 12th all-time, while his 77 starts (T-14th) and 540.1 innings (12th) also crack the top 15 in league history. The experienced righty has split his five seasons on the circuit with the Wichita Wingnuts, Winnipeg Goldeyes, and most recently the Sioux Falls Canaries, where he pitched in 2019. Boshers finished the year with a 6-9 record in 21 starts, including two complete games, despite pitching in a home ballpark in Sioux Falls Stadium that rates as the most hitter-friendly in the American Association. Over 119.0 innings, he recorded 89 strikeouts while walking 30, establishing a new career-best in punchouts. He struck out a career-high 10 batters against the Texas AirHogs on August 23. Boshers joined Wichita as a true rookie in 2015, and produced a dominant season operating out of the Wingnuts bullpen. The native of Nashville, Tennessee posted a 1.86 ERA over 28 games, then converted to the starting rotation the following season. Over the next two years, Boshers piled up a combined 23 wins, going 12-3 with a 3.29 ERA in 2016 and then 11-4 with a 3.72 ERA the following season. He was traded to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at the conclusion of the 2017 campaign, but only made two starts for the Atlantic League club before he was acquired by Winnipeg. Boshers finished out the year with the Goldeyes, making 21 starts and posting a 6.44 ERA. The 28-year old brings an impressive postseason track record to The Depot, having pitched in nine playoff contests while with the Wingnuts. Boshers helped propel Wichita to the American Association Championship Series in both 2016 and 2017, winning a pair of postseason starts in the former. All told, Boshers owns a 4-2 postseason record over the course of 31.0 innings of work. Sioux Falls acquired Boshers from Winnipeg on October 23, 2018 in exchange for RHP Dylan Thompson. The Canaries released Boshers on January 7. The signing of Boshers gives the Railroaders six players under contract for the 2020 season. American Association clubs may carry up to 28 players during Spring Training, which begins May 7. 2020 Signings
