Railroaders Walked Off After Rally06/21/2019 10:30 PM Article By: KANSAS CITY, Kan. (June 21, 2019) – The Cleburne Railroaders rallied from a 7-1 deficit to tie the game in the ninth, but a walk-off single from Roy Morales gave the Kansas City T-Bones a 10-9 win on Friday night at T-Bones Stadium. It was all T-Bones early, as Kansas City (16-16) surged to large lead. Shawn O’Malley got the scoring started with a solo home run in the second, then after Chase Simpson tied it 1-1 in the third, the T-Bones retook the lead with a bloop double in the home half of the inning from Taylor Sparks. Five more Kansas City runs crossed in the sixth, an inning that featured four doubles and six total hits against D.J. Sharabi and Braden Pearson. Trailing 7-1, Cleburne (15-19) began the comeback with four runs in the top of the seventh. Nick Rotola drove home Grant Buck with a fielder’s choice to make it 7-2, then T-Bones starter Christian Binford spiked a wild pitch to cut the lead to 7-3. After two walks, Simpson ripped a two-run double off the wall in left to cut the deficit to 7-5. Kansas City restored some cushion with two runs in the bottom of the inning, both crossing the plate on a double from Casey Gillaspie. Zach Nehrir pulled the Railroaders to within 9-6 with an RBI fielder’s choice in the eighth. Entering the ninth, the Railroaders needed three runs against Marc Magliaro (3-2) to keep the game going. After a ground out started the inning, two singles and a fly out put Railroaders runners on the corners with two outs. K.C. Huth rolled a single up the middle to score one run, then Rotola followed with a line drive single of his own to make it 9-8. Daniel Robertson fell behind in count 1-2, but smacked a game-tying single against his former team to tie the game 9-9. In the bottom of the ninth, Cleburne called upon closer Tyler Wilson (2-1). He issued a leadoff walk to Dylan Tice, who then stole second with nobody. A fly out, walk, and hit by pitch had the bases loaded with one out. Wilson came up with a big strikeout against O’Malley, but Morales lined an 0-1 pitch into center to score Tice with the winning run. It was the first run that Wilson has allowed in the 2019 season. The Railroaders and T-Bones continue their series on Saturday night at 7:05 PM. Nefi Ogando (0-3, 4.65) is expected to start for Cleburne, while Kansas City will counter with righty Kenny Koplove (0-0, 0.00).
