CLEBURNE, Texas (June 15, 2019) – For the second straight night, the Cleburne Railroaders could not hold a late lead and lost in ten innings to the Sioux City Explorers, this time by the score of 6-3 on Saturday night at The Depot.

Sioux City (13-15) scored three times in the top of the tenth on just one hit. Two walks and a throwing error by Martire Garcia (1-2) put the Explorers in front 4-3, then Jose Sermo laid down a squeeze bunt to add an insurance run. Dexture McCall capped the scoring in the inning with a two-out RBI single.

The Railroaders (13-15) led 3-1 into the top of the seventh, but Kyle Wren tied the game with a two-out, two-run double against D.J. Sharabi.

Both starters pitched well, as Michael Gunn and Eric Karch kept the game scoreless through the first two innings. Chase Simpson got the scoring started in the third with an RBI double, and John Nester made it 2-0 with a run-scoring single.

Nate Samson’s solo homer in the fourth cut the lead in half, but Nester roped a two-out RBI double in the fifth to restore the two-run cushion at 3-1.

The Sioux City bullpen was dominant, tossing four hitless, scoreless innings with seven strikeouts to give the Explorers time to rally. Tyler Fallwell (4-0) picked up the win for Sioux City by working the eighth and ninth innings, while Matt Pobereyko notched his seventh save with a zero in the bottom of the tenth.

The Railroaders and Explorers continue their series on Sunday night at 6:05. Nefi Ogando (0-2, 4.97) gets the ball for Cleburne, while Sioux City counters with right-hander Taylor Jordan (1-3, 4.31).
