LINCOLN, Nebraska – Cam Monger hit a solo homer and drove in another run with a sacrifice fly, but Cleburne couldn’t hold an early lead and set the league single-season strikeout record in a 10-6 loss to the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park on Thursday night.

Angel Rosa struck out to end the game – Cleburne’s 11th on the night and 872nd of the year, surpassing the league record set by Sioux Falls last season.

The Saltdogs answered with a pair of runs in the 1st on Brandon Jacobs’s two-run single, and Jacobs tied the game with an RBI single in the 3rd.

After Monger’s homer cut the lead to four, Jacobs – who finished with three hits and five RBI – clubbed a two-run homer to make it 10-4.
The Railroaders got two runs back without a hit in the 7th inning, after the first four batters walked to begin the inning, and Alex Polston bounced into a double play that scored another run.
Cleburne starter Michael Gunn went three innings and gave up 10 runs, while Will Mathis went three scoreless innings in relief. Both Tyler Wilson and Jeff Dally pitched scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
The Railroaders and Saltdogs wrap up the three-game series at 7:05 p.m. on Friday night. RHP Patrick Mincey will go head-to-head with LHP Joe Bircher.
The Railroaders return home for the final series of 2018 on Saturday, September 1 against the Texas AirHogs. Cleburne has just two home games remaining – Sept. 1 and Sept. 3 – and all ticket/promotional information can be found at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
