RAILROADERS LET GAME 3 SLIP AWAY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 16, 2018
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Dylan Mouzakes struck out a season-best 10 hitters over six-plus innings, but the Railroaders gave up three late runs in a 4-3 loss to the Texas AirHogs in the series finale at AirHogs Stadium on Thursday night.
Mouzakes worked into the 7th inning with a 3-1 lead, where he walked Cao Yijie on four pitches to begin the frame. Will Mathis came on in relief and gave up a double before Casio Grider drove in a run with a fielder’s choice.
John Hayes then came on for the 8th with a 3-2 lead, but walked the first two batters before Liang Pei laid down a sacrifice bunt and Hayes overthrew Angelo Gumbs at first, allowing Jesse Baker to score. After Cleburne recorded one out at home plate via a fielder’s choice, Liang Pay came home and avoided a tag from catcher Paul Ludden on Grider’s one-out grounder to short and gave the AirHogs the lead for good.
The AirHogs staved off what would have been Cleburne’s first sweep of a series since June 5-7, 2017, and evened the season series at three games apiece.
Texas starter Miguel Rosario tossed eight innings and gave up three runs on eight hits with three walks and four strikeouts before Carlos Contreras worked a 1-2-3 9th inning for his 11th save of the year.
Trevor Sealey added two more hits and drove in his 27th run of the year, while Hunter Clanin pushed across his 10th RBI of the series with a sacrifice fly in the 5th.
Angelo Gumbs went 2-for-4 with a triple and extended his hitting streak to five games, and Cam Monger reached three more times on Thursday night.
Cleburne – having won three consecutive road series – now heads to Kansas City for a three-game weekend series at T-Bones Stadium starting Friday night. First pitch time is set for 7:05 p.m. and can be heard live on TuneIn Radio.
The Railroaders return home to open a three-game set with the AirHogs – with the first two played at The Depot – on Monday, August 20. Tickets and all promo information are available at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
