RAILROADERS DROP RAIN-LENGTHENED GAME 3

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 12, 2018
CLEBURNE, Texas – Trevor Sealey reached on an infield single to extend his hitting streak to a season-best 15 games, but a five-run 3rd inning that followed an 86-minute rain delay doomed Cleburne in a 13-6 loss to the Wichita Wingnuts at The Depot on Sunday evening.
Sealey’s infield single was one of only six Cleburne hits on the night, and his hitting streak has now surpassed the 14-game mark set by Levi Scott earlier this season.
Angelo Gumbs had one of three Cleburne extra-base hits – a solo homer that opened the scoring in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Mike Gulino later added a 9th-inning double and Alex Polston drove him with an RBI double. Levi Scott also hit a two-run homer in the inning.
Dylan Mouzakes pitched the first two innings before the lengthy delay, and Roman Gomez came on in the 3rd. Gomez gave up five runs on five hits, including a two-run single from former Railroader Chase Simpson.
Cleburne got one run back in the 3rd when K.C. Huth led off the frame with a walk and eventually scored on a wild pitch, but Angel Reyes restored the lead with an RBI double in the 4th and Tony Thomas padded the lead with an RBI single.
The Wingnuts scored another run in the 6th and added three more runs in the 8th – including Angel Reyes’s two-run single, his fourth and fifth RBIs of the night.
Mouzakes opened with two scoreless innings before he was pulled, and after Gomez gave up five in the 3rd, Will Mathis gave up three runs over three innings of relief. John Hayes gave up five runs in 1.2 innings before Jesus Sanchez recorded the final four outs of the night.
Wichita starter Tyler Kane gave up three runs – two earned – over 2.1 innings, but Seth Harvey tossed 3.2 scoreless innings and Brady Bowen finished off the last three innings for his second save of the year.
The Wingnuts and Railroaders finish the four-game wraparound series on Monday night at 7:06 p.m. Cleburne will send LHP Michael Gunn to the mound against RHP Travis Banwart.
Monday night is also another edition of Monday Madness at The Depot. Good seats remain and can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
