RAILROADERS RALLY BUT FALL IN GAME 2 TO DOGS

ROSEMONT, Illinois – Cameron Monger reached twice and drove in a run as part of Cleburne’s four-run 7th inning, but the Dogs scored a late run and evened the series with a 5-4 win at Impact Field on Saturday night.
Cleburne fell behind 4-0 but scored four times – three unearned – in the 7th to tie the game. Cam Monger hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded for the game’s first run, and then Angel Rosa reached on an error by the third baseman Trey Vavra with two outs that scored two more runs. Blake Grant-Parks tied the game with an RBI double.
Jesus Sanchez came on for the 8th and recorded two quick outs, but Dalton Blazer hit a two-out triple that fell between right fielder Cam Monger and center fielder K.C. Huth on the warning track in right-center, and then came into score the game-winning run on a wild pitch.
Cleburne starter Jared Mortensen went six innings, giving up four runs on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts in his third loss of 2018.
The Dogs opened the scoring in the 1st inning, when Kenny Wilson knocked his first hit as a Chicago Dog and eventually scored on Vavra’s RBI groundout.
Chicago extended its lead in the 3rd inning when Edwin Arroyo clubbed a three-run homer after Mike Falsetti walked and Kenny Wilson singled with one out. The homer was Arroyo’s second of the year and Chicago’s second of the series.
Cleburne finished with just four hits on the night, though Levi Scott and Chase Simpson both walked twice. The Railroaders also struck out 14 times combined on Saturday night.
The teams wrap up the three-game series Sunday afternoon at Impact Field. First pitch time is 1:05 and Cleburne will throw RHP Josh Hodges against RHP Josh Goossen-Brown.
