RAILROADERS WALK-OFF T-BONES ON FRANCHISE-RECORD NIGHT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 29, 2018
CLEBURNE, Texas – Levi Scott and Cameron Monger became the first players in franchise history to homer twice in one game, and Monger hit the team’s first-ever walk-off homer in a 14-13 win over the Kansas City T-Bones at The Depot on Friday night.
Scott hit a two-run homer in the 1st and clubbed a grand slam in the 7th, tying the franchise record with six RBI on the night. Monger hit a two-run homer in the 1st inning to tie the game at four.
The T-Bones took a 4-0 lead before Cleburne (14-24) rallied to lead 7-5. Kansas City (24-14) then scored the next eight runs of the game before Scott’s grand slam cut the deficit to two heading into the final two innings. Blake Grant-Parks hit a two-run infield single to tie the game in the 8th and Monger ended the game with two outs in the 9th – snapping the T-Bones’ franchise-record nine-game winning streak.
Cleburne starter Patrick Young gave up four runs on four hits with three walks over just one-third of an inning – the shortest start for any Railroaders starter. Kansas City starter James Buckelew didn’t last much longer, surrendering four runs on six hits with three walks and no strikeouts over 1.1 innings of work.
Scott now leads the club with six homers and 11 multi-hit games, while all nine Cleburne starters reached safely and the Railroaders scored a season-high 11 runs on 11 hits.
The Railroaders walked 10 times in total, tied for the most they’ve walked in 2018, and Alex Polston became only the third player this season to walk three times in one game.
Patrick Palmeiro went 2-for-5 with an RBI double, while John Menken reached three times with a pair of walks and runs scored. K.C. Huth was hit by two pitches and walked, and Trevor Sealey reached three times.
The game was played in four hours and four minutes – officially the longest nine-inning game in franchise history.
Game 2 of the three-game series is scheduled for 7:06 p.m. on Saturday. It’s another night of the Summer Concert Series, this time featuring the Shane Watson Band. Tickets can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
