RAILROADERS EVEN UP SERIES IN LINCOLN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 9, 2018

LINCOLN, Nebraska – Jared Mortensen threw 6.2 scoreless innings, and Cleburne scored four late runs in a 4-1 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park on Saturday night.
Mortensen has now given up just two runs over his last 22.2 innings, and the Railroaders snapped a season-high four game skid.
Lincoln starter Mike Tamburino went seven scoreless innings and gave up just one infield single, but Cleburne capitalized against Eric Wooten with the bases loaded in the 8th. Blake Grant-Parks drove in the game’s first run with an RBI groundout, and K.C. Huth reached on a two-base error that scored two more runs in the inning.
The Railroaders loaded the bases again in the 9th and Axel Johnson rolled into a double play that scored an insurance run.
The Saltdogs, who didn’t have a hit beyond the second inning, threated in the 9th. With the bases loaded and one out, Christian Ibarra’s first hit in the series drove in Lincoln’s first run. After a strikeout, Cortland Cox got Curt Smith to ground into a game-ending fielder’s choice.
The Cleburne bullpen allowed a run on 2.1 innings, and Shawn Blackwell struck out the side in order in the 8th inning.
The teams wrap up the three-game set with a rubber match on Saturday. First pitch time is 1:05 p.m. and RHP Patrick Mincey will face RHP Tyler Herron.

The Railroaders return home to open a seven-game homestand beginning Monday, June 11 against the Wichita Wingnuts.
