RAILROADERS SWEPT IN DOUBLEHEADER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 30, 2018

WICHITA, Kansas – Patrick Mincey tossed six complete innings in Game 1, but the Railroaders were swept in both games of a seven-inning doubleheader against the Wichita Wingnuts Wednesday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Mincey allowed just two runs over six innings in the first game of the twinbill, but Cleburne’s (5-7) scoreless streak reached 21 innings in a 2-0 loss. In the second game, the Railroaders jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Wichita (8-4) scored eight unanswered runs – including six in the sixth inning – to clinch the four-game series.
Cleburne didn’t need a reliever through the first two games of the series, after Jared Mortensen tossed eight innings in the series opener Monday and Mincey went the full six innings in Game 1. But the Railroaders walked a franchise-record 10 batters in the second game of the doubleheader, including the season-high six walks issued by Railroaders starter Patrick Young, who surrendered a pair of runs over 3.2 innings.
Mincey allowed one run in each the fourth and sixth innings for the third complete game in his career, while Cleburne stranded six runners through the first four innings.
In the second game, Levi Scott reached on an error that allowed Cam Monger to score, and Rafael Palmeiro drove in his second run with an RBI single down the left-field line, but was then lifted with a leg injury running down the line.
Patrick Palmeiro singled in another run in the third before the Wingnuts got on the board with an RBI groundout and Tony Thomas solo shot in the bottom-half of the inning.
In the sixth, the Wingnuts brought 11 to the plate and scored six times on five hits with three walks. Wichita has won a season-high six straight games and Cleburne has lost five of its last six.

The Railroaders finish both the series and roadtrip on Thursday night at 7:05. RHP Roman Gomez will throw for Cleburne, and RHP Jared Wilson will pitch for Wichita.
