CLEBURNE, Texas – The Cleburne Railroaders have signed RHP Tyler Wilson, the club announced Monday.
Wilson, 28, has pitched in nine seasons at the Low-A, Single-A and independent level.
“Tyler is a workhouse out of the bullpen,” said pitching coach Ed Pruitt. “He’s got great stuff and we really feel he’s going to make a great contribution out of the back end of our bullpen this year.”
A 13th-round pick of the Boston Red Sox in the 2008 MLB Draft, Wilson has spent each of the last five seasons in independent baseball, and was in the Canadian-American League for the first four before signing with Long Island of the Atlantic League in 2017. In his career, the righty is 27-36 with a 4.60 ERA in 193 appearances and 59 starts. Wilson has 19 career saves and a pair of complete games.
In his nine seasons, Wilson has pitched 508.1 innings and surrendered 293 runs on 530 hits with 200 walks and 390 strikeouts. He’s posted a career 3.5 walks-per-nine-innings and a 6.9 strikeouts-per-nine-innings.
Wilson’s last year of independent professional baseball came in 2012, when he made 28 appearances between Low-A Lowell and Single-A Greenville.
The Railroaders open their second season with a three-game series against the two-time defending champion Winnipeg Goldeyes May 18 at The Depot. Season tickets and single-game tickets are on sale now by visiting www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
