CLEBURNE, Texas – The Cleburne Railroaders have signed RHP Patrick Young, the club announced Wednesday.
Young will begin his first season of independent professional baseball after spending parts of five seasons in the San Francisco Giants organization.
“I’m really looking forward to having Patrick Young join our team,” pitching coach Ed Pruitt said. “He’s going to give us a lot of flexibility to our pitching staff and starting rotation. He’s got great command and location and I’m excited to see what it’s going to take to get him back on track for the big leagues.”
In his career, Young is 28-14 with a 4.28 ERA in 116 games, including 50 starts. In 325.2 innings, Young has given up 192 runs on 346 hits with 144 walks and 273 strikeouts with one complete game and five saves. Young also pitched for Brisbane of the Australian Baseball League over the winter, going 1-1 with a 5.03 ERA in nine appearances and four starts.
The Railroaders open their second season with a three-game series against the two-time defending champion Winnipeg Goldeyes May 18 at The Depot. Season tickets and single-game tickets are on sale now by visiting www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
