CLEBURNE, Texas – The Cleburne Railroaders have announced shortstop Alex Polston will return to the club in 2018.
Polston, for a majority of 2017, was the team’s starting shortstop and No. 9 hitter after debuting for the Joplin Blasters the year before.
“I’m excited to continue my baseball career with Cleburne,” Polston said. “With a lot of talented and experienced players on the roster, 2018 should be a great year.
The Oklahoma City native appeared in 77 games for Cleburne last year, hitting .212 with three homers and 21 RBI, but the former Miami Marlins farmhand dazzled as one of the league’s best defensive infielders in 2017.
Polston notched a .649 OPS in 52 games with Joplin in 2016, and also played collegiately at Seminole State College, Oklahoma Christian University and Auburn University.
The Railroaders open their second season with a three-game series against the two-time defending champion Winnipeg Goldeyes May 18 at The Depot. Season, half-season and 10-game flex tickets are on sale now, and single-game tickets will go on sale April 1.
