Railroaders come from behind to top AirHogs 5-3

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- Maikol Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, and the Railroaders scored four in the eighth inning to beat the Texas AirHogs 5-3 at AirHogs Stadium Sunday night.

 

Gonzalez extended his on-base streak 20 with his pair of singles, and Cleburne (47-52) improved to 1-45 when trailing after seven innings in 2017.

 

 

Cleburne sent 10 to the plate in the seventh, scoring three times on three hits, three hit batters and a walk. Mitch Glasser drove in a run with a single before Geraldo Valentin worked a bases-loaded walk to tie the game. Axel Johnson and Blake Grant-Parks were then hit by pitches with the bases still loaded, and Cleburne took a two-run lead.

 

 

Patrick Mincey (10-8) gave up three runs on nine hits over seven innings, earning his career-high 10th win and clinching Cleburne’s sixth series win over the final eight to end 2017.

 

 

Glasser’s eighth-inning single extended his season-high nine-game hitting streak, while Alex Polston went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

 

 

Texas (42-57) starter Leuris Gomez (5-5) gave up four runs over 7.1 innings, while Luis De La Cruz gave up a run on two hits with three hit batters in 1.2 innings of relief.

 

 

Winston Abreu worked a perfect ninth inning for his league-leading 25th save of the year.

 

 

Cleburne now wraps up the 2017 season with the 100th and final game Monday afternoon. First pitch time is 1:05 p.m. and can be heard live on 95.3 KOME with pregame coverage starting 20 minutes prior to first pitch.
