WICHITA, Kansas -- Maikol Gonzalez reached three times and drove in a run, but the Railroaders stranded 10 runners in a 7-1 loss to the Wichita Wingnuts at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in the series finale Thursday night.

Gonzalez extended his on-base streak to 17 with a leadoff walk in the first, but the Railroaders stranded six runners with seven hits through the first four innings and dropped their second consecutive game after winning the opener Tuesday night.

Gonzalez’s RBI came on a two-out single in the ninth, spoiling Wichita’s shutout bid. The Wingnuts scored three runs on three hits and three errors -- including Brennen Salgado’s two-run little-league homer -- in the third.

Wichita then added another run in the fifth and three more in the seventh.

Alberto Rodriguez gave up four runs over five-plus innings, and Carlos Misell allowed the three seventh-inning runs -- ending the Cleburne bullpen’s scoreless streak at 14.1 innings.

Geraldo Valentin went 2-for-4 with a double and Mitch Glasser finished with five hits in the series. Nick Van Stratten singled in the first and finished with six hits in the three-game set, but after winning 2-1 on Tuesday night, the Railroaders were outscored 12-2 over the final two games and scored just twice on 22 hits with 19 runners left on base.

Will Mathis retired all three batters he faced, while Cortland Cox retired the two he saw and Onas Farfan worked a scoreless 8th inning.

Cleburne now returns to Texas to wrap up the 2017 season with a four-game set against the Texas AirHogs. First pitch from AirHogs Stadium on Friday is set for 7:05 p.m. and can be heard live on the Railroader Radio Network with pregame coverage starting 20 minutes prior.
