WICHITA, Kansas -- Laetten Galbraith gave up three earned runs over 7.2 innings, but the Railroaders scored a lone run in a 5-1 loss to the Wichita Wingnuts at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Wednesday night.

Cleburne gave Galbraith a lead with Geraldo Valentin’s team-leading 60th RBI in the first inning, but Galbraith gave up a two-run homer to Brent Clevlen in the bottom-half of the inning and another solo homer to Richard Prigatano in the second.

Neither team scored until the eighth inning, when the Wingnuts add two unearned runs on Martin Medina’s two-out single and a subsequent wild pitch from reliever Roby Romero, who inherited two of Galbraith’s hitters.

The Railroaders did finish with 11 hits, but stranded nine runners on base -- including a bases-loaded opportunity in the third.

Nick Van Stratten went 3-for-4 with a triple, and Mitch Glasser extended his hitting streak to five with a pair of singles and the only run scored.

Alex Polston went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and strikeouts, while Blake Grant-Parks clubbed a one-out double in the ninth inning.

Cleburne’s 2-3-4 hitters, Glasser, Van Stratten and Valentin, combined to go 6-for-12 with an RBI and a run scored.

Wichita starter Alex Boshers gave up just one run on 10 hits over seven innings, while Mike Devine and Ryan Kussmaul threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

The finale of the three-game set is scheduled for Thursday. First pitch time is 7:05 and can be heard on the Railroader Radio Network with pregame coverage starting 20 minutes prior.
