KANSAS CITY, Kansas -- Blake Grant-Parks hit his first homer of the season, and the Cleburne Railroaders won rain-shortened series opener 6-3 over the Kansas City T-Bones at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Monday evening.

Grant-Parks’s homer extended Cleburne’s lead to 2-0 in the second inning, and the Railroaders scored four more times on just two hits in the fourth inning.

After a 25-minute delay before the original first-pitch time of 7:05 p.m., the game was delayed after the top of the sixth inning and did not resume.

Kansas City stranded six runners on base over the first three innings, and wasted a bases-loaded, no-out chance in the second inning. The T-Bones racked up 10 hits and scored three times on three hits to cut the lead in the fifth.

Cleburne starter Will Mathis went three scoreless innings with six hits and three strikeouts, while Carlos Misell earned his second win of the year with three runs on four hits over two innings.

Kansas City starter Calvin Drummond gave up all six runs on six hits and five walks over six innings.

The Railroaders have now won five consecutive series openers and have 11 wins over their last 15 games.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Tuesday. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. and can be heard live on the Railroader Radio Network with coverage beginning 20 minutes prior.

Cleburne returns home for the final three-game series at The Depot on Friday, Aug. 25. Good seats are still available and can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by visiting the box office located near the main gate at the stadium.
