CLEBURNE, Texas -- Nick Van Stratten hit an RBI triple in the first inning, but Cleburne fell 4-1 in the series finale to the Lincoln Saltdogs Wednesday night at The Depot.

With a chance for their first sweep in 70 days, the Railroaders scored on Van Stratten’s second triple of the series. But Lincoln’s Derek Gordon gave up just four hits with seven strikeouts over seven innings and Lincoln became the first team to 50 wins.

Dylan Mouzakes gave up two runs on six hits over five innings, and Jordan Chudacoff surrendered a two-run homer to Curt Smith in the seventh inning. Onas Farfan threw two scoreless frames in his first appearance since Aug. 2.

Axel Johnson extended his hitting streak to nine games with a single in the second, while Blake Grant-Parks extended his own to five with a single in the seventh.

Cleburne worked four walks, but also struck out nine times. Pichi Balet, Axel Johnson and Grant-Parks all struck out multiple times.

Smith’s run homer accounted for two of his three RBI, and Lincoln’s 1-4 hitters reached 11 times with all four runs.

The Railroaders now hit the road for a six-game road trip beginning with a three-game series at CHS Field against the St. Paul Saints on Friday. First pitch is 7:05 p.m. and can be heard live on the Railroader Radio Network with coverage beginning 20 minutes prior.

Cleburne returns home for the final three-game series at The Depot on Friday, Aug. 25. Good seats are still available and can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by visiting the box office located near the main gate at the stadium.
