GARY, Indiana -- Maikol Gonzalez finished 3-for-5 with three singles, but the Railroaders gave up a late lead in a 5-4, 11-inning loss in the series opener against the Gary SouthShore RailCats at the U.S. Steel Yard Tuesday night.

Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to four games and has eight hits over that span, and the Railroaders finished with 15 hits -- the second-most in a game this year.

One strike away from a five-out save, Winston Abreu gave up a game-tying three-run homer to Colin Willis in the 9th inning -- only the fifth home run the RailCats had hit in 28 games at home.

Then in the 11th, Willis singled to right-center and scored Reggie Wilson, handing Cleburne its fifth straight loss and first walk-off loss in 2017.

Jorge Martinez went six innings and gave up just one run on seven hits with four strikeouts, but Abreu was charged with three runs over 1.2 innings and his second blown save of the year.

Geraldo Valentin finished with three hits for the first time since June 23, and Mitch Glasser added two hits with a walk and a run scored.

K.C. Huth drove in the game’s first run with a two-out triple, and Pichi Balet singled in the first run of his Cleburne career to extend the lead in the seventh.

Game 2 of the three-game set is scheduled for Tuesday. First pitch is 7:10 p.m. and can be heard live on the Railroader Radio Network with pregame starting 20 minutes prior.

Cleburne returns home to begin a 14-game homestand on Wednesday, July 26 against the Wichita Wingnuts. Good seats are available and can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by visiting the box office located near the main gate at The Depot.
