Railroaders swept in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Nebraska -- Pichi Balet singled twice in his first professional baseball game since 2009, but the Cleburne Railroaders were shutout for the fourth time in a 7-0 loss to Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park on Monday night.

Balet, who last played with the Saltdogs in 2009, singled in the fourth and ninth innings, but the Railroaders finished with just two hits and the Saltdogs swept the four-game series and the seven-game homestand.

Maikol Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to three with a single in the eighth, and Hunter Courson also singled in the second.

Cleburne starter Patrick Mincey gave up four runs on nine hits with one walk and four strikeouts over 4.1 innings, and Carlos Misell gave up a pair of runs over 1.2 relief innings.

Lincoln starter Brian McAfee pitched a complete-game shutout, the first of his professional career, and only once did the a Railroader reach second.

The Railroaders now head east to begin a three-game set with the Gary SouthShore Railcats on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on the Railroader Radio Network with pregame beginning 20 minutes ahead of first pitch.

Cleburne returns home to begin a 14-game homestand on Wednesday, July 26 against the Wichita Wingnuts. Good seats are available and can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by visiting the box office located near the main gate at The Depot.
