CLEBURNE, Texas -- Oscar Mesa hit a three-run homer in the first inning, and the Cleburne Railroaders ended a three-game skid with a 7-0 win over the Salina Stockade at The Depot on Monday night.

Mesa’s homer -- his first of the year -- accounted for three of Cleburne’s five runs in the first inning, and starter Dylan Mouzakes gave up just one hit with eight strikeouts over seven scoreless innings in his second start of the year.

Axel Johnson added his second homer of the year in the fourth, when a fly ball to the left-field wall deflected off Jimmy Heck’s glove and over the fence, and K.C. Huth went 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs in the leadoff spot for the first time in 2017.

Geraldo Valentin went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and an RBI, and Ermindo Escobar finished 2-for-3 with a double and another RBI.

The Railroaders scored seven total runs -- with the five in the first inning -- a night after finishing with just four runs over three games against Wichita over the weekend.

Cleburne touched up former Railroader Josh Hodges -- making his second start for the Stockade -- for seven runs on nine hits with five walks over six innings.

Onas Farfan threw the final two innings, giving up a pair of hits with no runs.

Game 2 of the three-game set is scheduled for 7:06 p.m. on Tuesday. It’s July 4, so come spend the holiday with the Railroaders. Good tickets are still available and can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by visiting the ticket office located near the main gate at The Depot.
