GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas -- Geraldo Valentin knocked a two-out, go-ahead RBI single in the 10th inning, and the Cleburne Railroaders held on for a 5-4 win in the series opener against the Texas AirHogs on Monday night.

Valentin’s single scored Mitch Glasser, who’d reached with a hit-by-pitch to lead off the inning, and Winston Abreu worked around a first-and-third, one-out jam with a pair of strikeouts to end the game.

Cleburne finished with just six hits over 10 innings, but each of the No. 2-No. 5 hitters recorded a hit. Blake Grant-Parks drove in a run with a triple in the fifth inning, and he then gave Cleburne a lead with an RBI single in the sixth inning. Shawn Zarraga also finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Harrison Lee got his third start of the year and gave up four runs -- two earned -- on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

The Cleburne bullpen -- Bryce Beeler Cortland Cox and Abreu -- combined to throw 4.2 scoreless innings with five hits, two walks and seven strikeouts.

Texas starter Michael Freeman cruised through the first four innings before giving up a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth. He gave up four runs on five hits over 5.2 innings, and after T.J. Bozeman threw 3.1 hitless innings, Jose De La Cruz gave up the go-ahead run in the 10th.

Game 2 of the three-game set is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Tuesday night, and the Railroader Pregame Show will begin at 6:45 p.m.

The Railroaders return home to The Depot Monday, June 26 to open a three-game set with the Salina Stockade. Tickets are still available and can be purchased online at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by visiting the box office located near the main gate at The Depot.
