SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Geraldo Valentin drove in a first-inning run to give the Railroaders an early lead, but the Sioux Falls Canaries immediately answered and held on for a 6-2 win at Sioux Falls Stadium in the series finale Sunday afternoon.

Valentin’s single was one of two run-scoring hits for Cleburne, but starter Santos Arias gave up six runs over five-plus innings and the Railroaders bounced into two double plays halting rallies in the seventh and eighth innings.

The Railroaders scored first for the first time in the series, but the Canaries scored three runs on five hits in the bottom-half of the first inning.

Sioux Falls added two more runs with a homer in the third inning, and after Mitch Glasser doubled and scored in the sixth, the Canaries answered back with another homer in the home half of the frame.

Glasser finished with three of Cleburne’s eight hits, and Brandon Tierney added one of his own. Ermindo Escobar, K.C. Huth and Alex Polston each recorded a hit at the bottom of the order.

Now 13-11, the Railroaders return home to begin a four-game set with the Salina Stockade at The Depot Monday night. First pitch is set for 7:06 p.m., and the Railroader Pregame Show will begin 20 minutes prior.

Good seats are still available and can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by visiting the box office located by the home plate gate at The Depot.
