Devan Ahart knocked a pair of hits and drove in a run, but the Railroaders coughed up a late lead and lost 8-3 to the St. Paul Saints in 15 innings at The Depot Monday night.

Ahart's first single drove in the first Cleburne (4-8) run in a fourth inning in which the Railroaders scored three times to take a 3-2 lead.

The Railroaders held on to that lead until the Saints (7-4) pushed across an unearned run when Brandon Tierney knocked down a ground ball but threw wide to first with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the eighth.

Cleburne had the game-winning run on base with nobody out in the 10th, 12th, 13th and 14th innings but failed to score in any inning other than the fourth. The Saints then drove in five runs with six hits to break the game open in the 15th.

Railroader starter Brandon Quintero threw five innings and gave up two unearned runs on six hits with no walks and seven strikeouts, and before the 15th inning, the Cleburne bullpen surrendered just the unearned run on two hits over nine innings of work. Alberto Rodriguez, who had thrown four shutout innings from the 11th to the 14th, gave up all five runs while only recording one out in the final frame.

The game lasted four hours and 59 minutes -- the longest in both St. Paul Saints and Cleburne Railroaders history -- and featured 15 combined pitchers, seven combined errors and 27 combined men left on base.

The second game of the four-game set begins at 7:06 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or at the box office located on the first base side of The Depot.
