The Lincoln Potters took game two of the weekend series against the Seattle Studs for their third win in a row. Lincoln got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning, putting up four runs to jump out to a 4-0 lead. They blew the game wide open in the fourth, putting up five more runs to extend their lead to 9-0. The Studs clawed their way back in, scoring one in the seventh and three in the eighth to close the lead to 9-4. The Potters got one back in the bottom frame however, and held the Studs in the ninth to win the game 10-4. With this win, the Potters now guarantee at least a split in the four-game series. Tonight’s win was also a special game for Potters broadcaster Stones McCoy, who made his coaching debut at first base in the game.

Small ball was the name of the game for the Potters, as they walked eight times and were hit by a shocking eight pitches in the contest. Six different Potters were hit by pitches, with Jeffrey David and Mason Holt each wearing one twice. The Potters were still able to string hits together however, ten hits in the contest and four extra base hits. Chase Stanke had another strong showing at the plate, going 2-3 with three RBI, all of which came on a bases-clearing double in the third inning. Mason Holt had two hits as well along with two runs batted in. Jason Brandow returned to the lineup with a 3-4 night and two RBI. Garret Forrester and Trey Furrey each bright one home as well. Lincoln was aggressive on the basepaths tonight with six stolen bases, including Drew Stahl stealing home in the fifth inning. 

The Potters’ pitching staff had their fair struggle with free bases as well, walking eight batters and hitting two. Starter Owen Cuffe had another strong outing, allowing just two hits while striking out eight in his four innings of work. Cuffe kept the Studs off the board to earn the win in the contest. Jojo Villareal took over for Cuffe in the fifth and struck out five batters in just two innings without allowing a single run. The final three innings were split between Evan Odin, Will Jacobson, and Ryan Bruno. Bruno struck out four of the seven batters that he faced to close the game out in one and two-thirds innings pitched.
