NASH RETURNS WITH TWO BLASTS

(August 3, 2018) - Two of the catalysts of the York Revolution's run to the 2017 Atlantic League championship returned to the team on Friday, with Telvin Nash blasting a pair of home runs in a comeback bid that was paused in the bottom of the fifth with York trailing the southern Maryland Blue Crabs, 7-6 at PeoplesBank Park. The game was suspended due to rain and will be resumed on Sunday at 1 p.m. The two teams will play their regularly scheduled contest as the series continues on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Reigning Revs Team MVP, Atlantic League Player of the Year, and Baseball America's Independent League Player of the Year Alonzo Harris also returned to the Revs prior to Friday's game, and is expected to make his season debut in the York lineup on Saturday night.

Southern Marlyand sent ten men to the plate in the top of the first inning, scoring six times on seven hits and chasing York starter Dominic Severino after two-thirds of an inning and 30 pitches.

The Revs responded immediately as Nash belted a two-run homer over the Arch Nemesis in left in his first at-bat with the team since September 29, 2017, when he slugged the championship clinching go-ahead homer in the eighth and was named Championship Series co-MVP. The long ball was the 45th of his Revs career, tying him with Scott Grimes for third on the franchise's all-time list.

Frank Martinez homered to right to lead off the second as the Blue Crabs increased their lead to 7-2, but Revs reliever Michael Click dominated from there, retiring each of his next 12 batters faced including seven on strikeouts, totaling 4.1 innings in relief.

Nash doubled to right-center leading off the bottom of the fourth, starting a two-run inning that saw RBI singles from Luis Cruz (11-game hitting streak) and Jose Cuevas.

Melky Mesa worked a one-out walk in the bottom of the fifth and Nash drilled a two-run opposite field homer to right, bringing York within 7-6 and chasing Blue Crabs starter Drake Britton.

Reliever Shane Watson threw one pitch which sailed high and tight on York batter Welington Dotel before the game was halted due to weather conditions.

Notes: Nash is 3-for-3 with a double, two homers, four RBI, and three runs in the contest. His 46 home runs move him into sole possession of third on the Revs' all-time list. He has now hit 30 home runs at PeoplesBank Park, third-most in club history. The two-homer game is the third of his Revs career and first since June 21, 2016 vs. Long Island; he becomes the ninth player in club history to homer twice in a game at least three separate times and first to do so since Andres Perez (2012-13, '15-16). Click's seven strikeouts ties a Revs single-game record by a reliever (Nick McCurdy, May 6, 2008 at Bridgeport). Click's 12 consecutive batters retired establishes a new franchise record for a reliever in a single-game (three had previously retired 11 straight) and is the most by any Revs pitcher in a game this season. It is the fourth suspended game in Revs history. The Revs are attempting to pull off their biggest comeback victory since a team-record seven-run comeback victory vs. New Britain on August 8, 2016.

Up Next: York righty Mitch Atkins (7-4, 4.22) faces Crabs righty Paul Clemens (1-6, 6.10) on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. It is Health Fair Night presented by OSS Health featuring a Visor Giveaway presented by OSS Health (First 1,000 Fans) and Post-Game Fireworks! It is also Softball Night featuring a Pregame parade for all teams in attendance and a Pregame softball skills clinic presented by Carmen Fusco Softball Academy.
