Gladiators Acquire Miceli and Vail from Admirals

The Atlanta Gladiators announced Tuesday that the team has traded forwards Chase Witala and Patrick D’Amico and the ECHL rights to forward Thomas Frazee to the Norfolk Admirals for forward Brady Vail and the ECHL rights to forward Angelo Miceli.   

Miceli, 23, lead the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in scoring last season with 77 points (22-55-77) in 68 games. During the first 12 games of the current campaign, the Montreal, PQ native has amassed 13 points (4-9-13) in 12 contests which was tied for the team lead with Norfolk.  In 106 ECHL games with Greenville and Brampton, the third-year pro has registered 110 points (33-77-110).  The 5-foot-10, 176-pound center has also earned five points in 30 AHL games with St. John’s and Texas.  Prior to the start of his professional career, Miceli posted 279 points (118-161-279 in 255 games in QMJHL for the Victoriaville Tigres with his best season coming in 2014-15 where he scored 96 points (38-58-96) in 64 contests.  Miceli, who is under contract with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL, has been reassigned to the team and is expected to be sent to the Gladiators tomorrow. 

Vail, 23, ranks third on Norfolk in points with 10 (4-6-10) in eight games this season. The fourth-year pro spent last year split between the Norfolk Admirals and Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL and Rochester Americans of the AHL.  The product of Hendersonville, NC has collected 121 points (48-73-121) in 177 ECHL games for Orlando, Fort Wayne and Norfolk.  The 6-foot, 194-pound center set a career high in goals (20), assists (38) and points (58) during the 2015-16 campaign for the Solar Bears.  The former fourth round selection (94th overall) by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft has appeared in 41 AHL games with Hamilton, Toronto and Rochester.  Vail also had a standout major junior career where he notched 200 points (77-123-200) in 264 games with the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL.
