Sterling Booked For UFC 214

Long Island native named to PPV card

(Long Island, NY., May 25, 2017) – Aljamain Sterling will look to continue his winning ways as he will take on former bantamweight champion, Renen Barao, on July 29 at UFC 214 in Anaheim, California.

Sterling (13-2), the Uniondale resident, will look to build on his win over Augusto Mendez on UFC on Fox 24 in April.

His decision win snapped a two-fight losing streak.

Sterling was a two-time All-American Division III All-American at SUNY Cortland. Sterling made his name for himself while competing in Cage Fury Fighting, where he won and defended his bantamweight title.

He started his professional MMA career with 12-consecitive victories before losing to Bryan Caraway in May, 2016.

Barao (34-4), returns to the bantamweight division in which he ruled from 2012-2014, including winning a world title. However, after losing his title to T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 173 and then again in July of 2015, Barao moved up to the featherweight division and is coming off a win over Phillipe Nover in September, 2016.

The former champion will now move back to his original weight class and take on Sterling in a thrilling bathamweight bout.
