Long Island's Bermudez Set for UFC Fight Night 92

"The Menace" aims for big win

(Long Island, NY., August 1, 2016) – It’s fight week as the UFC hits the road to Salt Lake City, Utah. Joining them and fighting in the co-main event will be Long Island’s Dennis Bermudez. UFC Fight Night 92, held at Vivant Smart Home Arena, will feature a featherweight bout as Lindenhurst’s Bermudez takes on Rony Jason.

Dennis “The Menace” Bermudez has been fighting in the featherweight division since 2009 and holds an impressive professional MMA record of 15-5. After seven-consecutive wins, the 29-year-old won his last fight on February 21 against Tatsuya Kawajiri via unanimous decision, to end a personal two-fight losing streak.

Bermudez, who fights out of Long Island MMA, began wrestling in 2000 and held a high school record of 122-23. From high school he went on to wrestle at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, where in 2007 he was ranked 22nd in the nation at the Division 1 level.

After turning pro, Bermudez has impressive wins over Clay Guida (UFC on Fox 12), Steven Siler (UFC Fight Night 31) and Max Holloway (UFC 160). Bermudez now faces another very formidable opponent in Jason. Rony Mariano Bezerra, better known as Rony Jason is 1-2 (with one no-contest) in his past four fights, but 14-5 in his professional career. “The Ultimate Fighter Brazil” season one winner last fought over a year ago at UFC Fight Night 67 where he submitted Damon Jackson in the first round with a triangle choke. However, that win was overturned into a no-contest after Jason tested positive for diuretics.

UFC Fight Night 92 is scheduled for Saturday night.
