Kelleher Drops On UFC 224

Pair of bantamweights give it their best

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil., May 14, 2018) – Brian Kelleher took on his toughest opponent yet, in John Lineker, on Saturday from Jeunesse Area in Brazil at UFC 224.

While the 31-year-old Long Island native used his aggressive style to try to win his first-ever fight on Pay-Per-View, it wasn’t good enough, as Lineker knocked him out midway through the third round by a lethal left hook that dropped the Selden resident to the ground.

Kelleher survived a big shot in second round that wobbled him and then countless body shots, but Kelleher never stopped trying to land. Due to Lineker’s relentless style, Kelleher for the first time in the Octagon seemed more on the defensive side, which ultimately led to the KO in the third round.

Kelleher dropped to 19-9 in his MMA career and his two-fight winning streak was snapped as well.

After the fight, Kelleher went to his Twitter handle and gave praise to his opponent.  “It’s kill or be killed. Happens to the best. Hats off to @johnlineker who’s hands are really made of stone.”
