Kelleher Keeps Rolling

Exciting performance from Long Island’s Kelleher

(Orlando, FL., February 26, 2018) – Brian Kelleher is quickly becoming a Long Island fighter that is must watch MMA. After his dominating win over former bantamweight champion, Renen Barao, on Saturday night, Kelleher is now talking title shot.

In what was an impressive performance by the 31-year-old, the Selden native just needed 10 more seconds in the third round to have won via TKO with a late onslaught to end the fight.

While he didn’t get the finish, he did score the biggest victory of his career, as he earned an unanimous decision victory at Orlando’s Amway Center. The judges’ scores were a pair of 30-27s and a 29-28.

“I’m here to say I want that title,” Kelleher said. “I showed my heart. I left it all in the cage.”

The win improved Kelleher to 19-8 and 3-1 in the UFC and now has won nine of his last 10 fights.

Kelleher was aggressive from the opening bell, and while Barao did an efficient job in the clinch and with his takedown defense, the fight could have been tied 1-1 going into round three. However, Kelleher took over in the final round, as he dominated for the last five minutes and almost scored the finish.

After the fight, Kelleher called out ranked bantamweight fighter, John Lineker, in the hope they face off in Atlantic City later this year at UFC Fight Night 128.
