Iaquinta Returns For UFC 223

Brooklyn card adds big fight

(Long Island, NY., Jan 25, 2018) – One of Long Island’s favorite fighters is back as Seaford’s Al Iaquinta is scheduled to fight Paul Felder in a lightweight bout on April 7, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn at UFC 223.

In his last fight in April of 2017, after two years, Iaquinta came back and didn’t miss a beat at UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville, Tennessee.

After two long years of multiple surgeries, a contract dispute with the UFC and a new business venture in Real Estate, “Raging Al” picked up right where he left off defeating Diego Sanchez in the first round via knockout.

It only took Iaquinta, (13-3) just 98 seconds to knockout Sanchez as he knocked him down with a big right hand, but Sanchez quickly survived and jolted back to his feet. Another right-handed bomb connected and dropped Sanchez again to end the fight.

Iaquinta has now won five-fights in a row and is climbing up the lightweight division rankings. However, Iaquinta is still unhappy with the UFC as he took to social media to voice his displeasure about not getting a performance of the night bonus after the incredible display in the Octagon.

After the fight, the Long Island native said, “I really enjoy selling the real estate. I got my fix for fighting right now. I’m good for now. I haven’t thought about it. I just wanted to get in there and have fun and that’s exactly what I did.”

The itch came back and Iaquinta and Felder were scheduled to fight in December, but an injury during training camp derailed Iaquinta from taking on the veteran Felder.

Felder (15-3), who also serves as a UFC broadcaster, has won three fights in a row, with his most recent victory coming on December 2, 2017, when he beat Charles Oliveira via TKO in round two.
