(Long Island, NY., Jan 24, 2018) – Long Island’s Dennis Bermudez will take on Andre Fili in a featherweight bout on Saturday, as the 145 pound fighters will serve as the co-main event at UFC On Fox 27, at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

A veteran to the sport, Bermudez has been fighting in the featherweight division since 2009. Fighting out of Long Island MMA, the Lindenhurst resident holds a professional record of 16-7.

After stringing together seven consecutive victories, the 31-year-old ended a personal two-fight losing streak on February 21, 2016 against Tatsuya Kawajiri with a win via unanimous decision.

On August 6, 2016, Bermudez defeated Rony Jason via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) at UFC Fight Night 92 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Puerto Rican/American Bermudez began wrestling in 2000 and held a high school record of 112 wins and 23 losses. From high school he went on to wrestle at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, where in 2007 he was ranked 22nd in the nation at the Division 1 level.

On February 4, 2017, as the main event, Dennis “The Menace” lost via first round knock out against Chan Sung Jung (The Korean Zombie) at UFC Fight Night 104 in Houston.

In his last fight, Bermudez lost via split decision to Darren Elkins at UFC on Fox 25 at Nassau Coliseum.

Now trying to once again snap a two-fight losing streak, Bermudez will take on Fili.

Fili (17-5) has alternated wins and losses in his last eight bouts, coming up with a decision victory over Artem Lobov at UFC Fight Night 118 in October.

The main event will showcase two middleweight fighters, as Derek Brunson takes on Ronaldo Souza.
