WORCESTER, MA – Right wing Tyler Toffoli, center Linden Vey and left wing Tanner Pearson were reunited on a line that compiled seven points (3-4=7) in the Manchester Monarchs 4-1 victory over the Worcester Sharks at the DCU Center on Wednesday night.

Manchester (5-0-1-2) leads the Atlantic Division with 13 points.  Worcester (1-3-0-0) is ranked fifth in the Atlantic Division with two points.

"Our young guns (Vey, Toffoli and Pearson line) led the way tonight," said Monarchs Head Coach Mark Morris.  "The Pearson and Toffoli goals were lasers.  (Harri) Sateri had no chance on either one.  It was a good team win; much closer than the final 4-1 score.  All four lines skated well and we got contributions up and down the line-up.  Worcester made a hard push toward the end.  The Sharks got one on a power play, but (Nick) Deslauriers’ breakaway goal extended our lead to ice the game.  Toffoli added another empty netter on a feed from Vey.  Martin Jones made several key stops when we needed him.  He’s playing with lots of confidence and makes tough saves look easy right now.”

Toffoli doubled the Monarchs lead to 2-0 with his fourth goal of the season at 4:29 of the final frame.  Defenseman Jeff Schultz’s shot from the right point was directed to the left wing boards where Vey picked up the puck.  Vey skated behind the Sharks’ net and around to the right face-off circle before sending the puck to Toffoli who was skating to just above the hash marks.  Toffoli rifled a one-timer into the top right corner of the net behind netminder Harri Sateri for the eventual game-winning goal.

Pearson broke the scoreless tie with his fourth tally of the season at the 32-second mark of the second period.  Toffoli and Pearson were battling with multiple Sharks players along the right wing half wall in Worcester’s zone.  The puck popped free into the right face-off circle and Pearson sent a wrist shot into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Right wing Daniil Tarasov cut the Monarchs lead in half with a power play goal at 7:32 of the third period.  Right wing Eriah Hayes was pinned along the end wall with a Monarchs player when defenseman Dylan Demelo freed the puck and skated around the net to the left post.  Demelo centered the puck to Tarasov who had skated into the slot for a one-timer that beat Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones for his second goal of the season.

Monarchs defenseman Nick Deslauriers added an insurance tally with a breakaway goal at 18:30 of the final stanza.  Deslauriers picked up the puck in the neutral zone and carried it down the left wing before cutting to the center of the Sharks zone and snapping a wrist shot past Sateri’s glove for his second goal of the season.

Toffoli finished off the Sharks with an empty net goal from the right face-off circle at 19:11 of the third period.  Vey and Pearson picked up assists on the final goal.

Jones (5-0-2) earned his second regulation win, and fifth overall win, of the season stopping 32-of-33 shots.  Sateri (0-3-0) took his third loss of the season making 28 saves on 31 shots.

Manchester was 0-for-3 on the power play.  Worcester went 1-for-5 with the man advantage.
