Les Davis begins his 35th year of coaching and 5th year as Head Football Coach at San Marcos Academy. Davis came to SMA after eight years at Canyon High School in New Braunfels where he served as Defensive Coordinator and Track Coordinator for two years and six years as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach..
Coach Davis is a graduate of San Marcos High School and Southwest Texas State University where he earned three letters on the Bobcat football team while playing for Bill Miller and Jim Wacker. Davis has held other coaching positions in multiple sports programs at Menard High School, Hillsboro High School, Itasca High School, and Lockhart High School. In addition to football and track Coach Davis has coached powerlifting, baseball and basketball during his career. Davis was selected as the Texas Track and Field Coach of the Year for 2001 and 2002, served on the Texas High School Coaches Association Track Advisory Committee and the All-Star Football Committee. He and his wife Paulette, a teacher in Comal ISD, have two grown sons. Brandon, 30, is a teacher/coach at Alamo Heights High School and Steven, 26, is a teacher/coach at San Marcos High School.
