Jeremy Foley (’76) will be returning to campus this winter to accept the prestigious Medal of Merit from the Ohio University Alumni Association, which he was awarded in 2008. The Medal of Merit is presented to alumni who have achieved distinction in their professions and shown loyalty and interest in Ohio University. Foley has certainly done this during his distinguished career as Athletics Director at the University of Florida.
The special event is set to take place on January 28-29, 2010, with both graduate and undergraduate students having the opportunity to hear Foley speak at during his reception of the award. Sports Administration Alumni in the area are invited to make the trip back to Athens and join the center in celebrating this occasion. A reception will be held the evening of January 28th to welcome Foley back to town; with the presentation and informal Q&A session taking place the morning of January 29th.
Foley is the 1995 recipient of the Charles R. Higgins Distinguished Alumnus Award and has long been a champion of Ohio University, giving back to the Sports Administration Program throughout his career.
This is not the first award Foley has garnered, being named the Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal National Athletic Director of the Year in 2006. He also received the 2007 John L. Toner Award from the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame. Foley was also named an Honorary Alumnus of the University of Florida in 2000.
