Many professionals in the sports industry will tell you that one of the reasons they love their job is because no day is exactly the same. Whether you are part of the Ohio University sports administration family or just curious about the MBA/MSA program, you can join the Center for Sports Administration and follow the not-so-typical days of our graduate students. This edition features MBA/MSA students Teresa Dimiduk ('10), Daniel Hennessey ('11), Paul Kruger ('10), and Janice Matacic ('11).
A Day in the Life of Teresa Dimiduk ('10)
6:00 AM Wake up and make a large pot of coffee to start studying for Dr. Li’s Research final later that afternoon
6:05 AM It’s too early, I’m going to try to read my notes while laying in bed…..bad idea!
6:10 AM Coffee is ready, it’s time to buckle down
7:15 AM Get ready for the day
8:00 AM Head to Dr. Pfahl’s final. Had a great discussion about the online-offline sponsorship project and feedback on resumes and cover letters. The class ends with Dr. Pfahl providing individual remarks to each student. My new nickname is shared with the class, Turbo Diesel (I doubt it will catch on, Dr. Pfahl!)
10:00 AM Head to a conference room with fellow classmates Mike Rose (’10), Jason Hill (’10), Taylor Wood (’10), Darren Cohen, Patrick Skahan ('10), and Christina Wright ('10) to study for Dr. Li’s research final. We are easily distracted and begin to review the power point for the Thanksgiving Dinner skit that we will perform later tonight.
10:30 AM Symposium meeting with Mr. Kahler and fellow classmate, Taylor Wood ('10)
11:00 AM Need a more quiet study space. Head to Baker to meet fellow classmate Jessie Lamb ('10), grabbed some lunch and reviewed for our final at 12:20 p.m.
1:30 PM Finished with the quarter! Aced Dr. Li’s final (I hope) time to take a nap, run to the grocery, and get ready for the MSA Thanksgiving Dinner.
5:00 PM Visit with roommates Melissa Somadelis (’10), Morgan Staley(’10), and Maria Amicone (’10). Lamb and Chance Jones (’10) come over before heading to dinner together.
6:00 PM Cocktail hour, dinner, drinks, skits. Classmate Justin Hunt (’10) is the only male at the dinner table and learns many life lessons from the females in the group.
10:00 PM MSA Thanksgiving is over. Time to go to Broneys to celebrate the end of the quarter and have one more night out with everyone before winter break.
2:30 AM Pick up some Goodfella’s Pizza for the ride home with everyone and call it a night.
A Day in the Life of Daniel Hennessey ('11)
7:00 AM First alarm. No music, just a loud, shrill beeping noise that can be heard in the next county.
7:01 AM Convince myself that I studied for my test enough the night before. Another hour of sleep.
8:00 AM Second alarm. Out of bed, shower, breakfast.
8:45 AM No morning class. Decided to use the morning to study for my Management final that was later that night.
8:47 AM Realize my previous conclusion about having studied enough last night was entirely false. Continue to study.
11:25 AM Give up on studying for now. Grab a sandwich for the road. Off to class with roommate David Carter (’11).
11:30 AM Colin Cowherd is on the radio in the car ride over. He is talking about Charlie Weis and Notre Dame football. That always catches my ear.
11:32 AM Tell Carter that I wouldn’t be surprised if UConn beats ND this coming weekend. Unfortunately, I was right.
12:00 PM PRCM Class with Ms. Penrod. We are learning about collaborative writing techniques today. It should be helpful for the consulting work that we do up at the George Voinovich School of Leadership (GVS).
1:30 PM Class lets out early. Take a little break to catch up on email before GA duties.
2:00 PM Show up for my GA work with McKenna Maertens (’11). Normally, we help undergrads in Accounting 101 class with Mrs. Kirch. For some reason, Mrs. Kirch tells us that we can have the day off.
2:15 PM Return home still confused, but happy about what has just happened.
3:00 PM Attempt to study for Management final while talking with roommates Carter and Sean Othen (’11).
5:30 PM Quick bite to eat and it is off to the much anticipated test.
6:00 PM Notes away. Tests are out.
8:35 PM Turn in the test with 25 minutes to spare. Head upstairs to the graduate lounge to ice my hand and fill out evaluations for GVS.
9:15 PM Meet up with members of the class at Courtside to celebrate Pat Nieser’s (’11) birthday. Watch fellow ND alum Brady Quinn and the Browns fail miserably on MNF against the Ravens.
11:15 PM Leave Courtside to go home and get some sleep. GVS at 8:00 tomorrow morning.
A Day in the Life of Paul Kruger ('10)

8:00 PM Watch the MBA/MSA class of 2011 put on a “Letterman” type show with hosts Dave Carter (’11) and Michael Speight (’11)
