With Homecoming weekend fast approaching, Ohio Sports Administration students are gearing up for a busy weekend. In addition to their weekly duties at the football games, students will be making a large push to sell BOBCAT BLACKOUT shirts.
But, football is not the only thing going on this weekend in Athens. Check out the slate of events below for Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12.

10:00 a.m. - Annual Homecoming Archives Display at Alden Library
Homecoming is all about renewing old acquaintances and remembering the past at Ohio University, and Ohio University Archives once again hopes to enhance the homecoming experience with its annual display of 20 tables piled high with historic materials representing Ohio University’s unique and storied past. Featured in this increasingly popular event will be OU newspapers dating back over 100 years, hundreds of photographs, and dozens of yearbooks, sports and other event-related programs, maps, posters, student handbooks, student scrapbooks, dance cards, student magazines, dorm newsletters and other Ohio University memorabilia. Make sure to put some time aside to stop in at the 4th floor of Alden Library and meet with University Archivist Bill Kimok!
11:00 a.m. - National Coming Out Day SpeakOUT at Scripps Amphitheater
Join the LGBT Center in queering up Homecoming by “coming out to come home.” Join faculty, staff, students, alums, and community members in sharing stories of who we are as allies, trans folk, lesbians, bisexuals, gay people, asexuals, questioning, queer…whether this is the first time or the umpteenth time you come out, all are welcome! 11:30 a.m. - OHIO Mini Farmers Market at Howard Hall site
Join us for the campus Farmer's Market during homecoming week. Browse the market to find the best of Athens area local food products. The Market is in it's 3rd year on campus and is held bi-weekly during harvest months.

5:30 p.m. - Historical Hayrides & Walking Tours at The Ridges
Join alumni, faculty, staff and community members to learn more about the history of one of the most intriguing spots on campus, The Ridges. There will be horse-drawn wagon and walking tours where you will learn the history of the buildings and how they are now used at Ohio University. The walking tours will be hosted by Dr. Katherine Ziff. Last year, Dr. Ziff released her book "Asylum on the Hill: History of a Healing Landscape," which is an extensive history of The Ridges. Each tour participant will receive a complimentary OHIO mug that can be filled with hot chocolate while waiting for their tour. The cost is $5 per person and children under 3 are free.
5:30 p.m. - Ohio University Alumni Association's Annual Awards Gala at Baker University Center
Join the OUAA Board of Directors and Ohio University Intercollegiate Athletics in celebrating the achievements of some of the University's most outstanding alumni and friends at the 2013 Alumni Awards Gala. The black-tie reception and dinner will be held at Baker University Center at 5:30 p.m. with dinner and the program beginning at 6:30 p.m.
9:00 p.m. - "Yell Like Hell" Bonfire at Pepsi Tailgreat Park
Come join the pep rally and your fellow Bobcats as we get excited for the 2013 Homecoming Weekend! We will be giving away free hot chocolate and free apple cider, with free cups going to the first 500 attendees! The event will feature several events, including a live DJ and bonfire, free giveaways, performances by OHIO University acapella groups and appearances by President McDavis and the 2013 Homecoming Court! 9:15 a.m. - FREE Treats with the University College Team at Chubb Hall - Court Street Side
Join us for FREE Treats with the University College Team, on the bricks in front of Chubb Hall's main entrance on Court Street, Saturday at 9:15 a.m. Say hello to members of the University College advising team before the homecoming parade. Enjoy free coffee, hot chocolate, doughnuts, and spirited swag, courtesy of University College. There is no cost for this event.
9:30 a.m. - Alumni Coffee Hour at The Front Room
Before heading to the Homecoming parade, stop by the Front Room on the 4th floor of Baker University Center from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and enjoy free coffee, hot chocolate and specialty drinks, sponsored by Nationwide Insurance. While you’re there, make sure to grab some OHIO giveaways to show your Bobcat pride throughout the day!
10:00 a.m. - Homecoming Parade at Court Street
Hosted by University Program Council (UPC), the 2013 Homecoming Parade will celebrate “OUr Past, OUr Present, and OUr Future” with spirited floats, banners and displays representing both the University and the surrounding community.
2013 PARADE ROUTE: The Parade will start on Factory Street. The parade will turn right onto Union Street, continuing up Union Street and turning right on Court Street (opposite of normal traffic flow) up to Baker University Center where units are scored by judges. The parade proceeds on Park Place, opposite of Alden Library, then turns right onto University Terrace and flows to parking lot 93 for float recycling.

Hosted by OHIO Athletics, the 2nd annual Varsity Ohio All-Sport Reunion will take place prior to the OHIO vs Central Michigan Homecoming football game. All former Ohio varsity student-athletes, managers and trainers are welcome to come back to campus and catch up with former teammates and friends.
11:00 a.m. - Homecoming 2013 Celebrating the 25th Reunion of the OU-HCOM Class of 1988 at Pepsi Tailgreat Park
Join us for an exclusive Homecoming tailgate party hosted by the OU-HCOM Society of Alumni and Friends. We will honor Bill Burke, D.O. (’88), FACOFP, recently named dean of the OU-HCOM Dublin campus, and celebrate the 25th reunion of the OU-HCOM Class of 1988. Festivities begin at 11 a.m. at Pepsi Tailgreat Park near the Convocation Center and conclude at 1 p.m. as we make our way to Peden Stadium to watch OHIO take on Central Michigan. A pre-Homecoming game Bobcat Bash will be held from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Grover Center, immediately following the Homecoming Parade. Included in the $20.00 early bird ticket is music, picnic food, beverages (including beer and wine) and free OHIO merchandise. Early bird tickets are $10.00 for kids ages 6-12 and children under 5 are free.
