Keeping up with what has now become an Ohio Sports Ad tradition, a few of our students spent their Saturday evening helping with Habitat for Humanity’s Annual Cardboard City event. At this event, groups of all ages gather in the Morton Hall parking lot to build cardboard “houses” as they prepare to spend the night under the stars.
The goal of Cardboard City is to simulate being homeless for a night and raise awareness for the high level of substandard living in the Athens community. Fortunately, for the groups involved, the weather wasn’t too cold and the rain held off for the evening. Habitat for Humanity raised over $9,000 from the event, so it was definitely a big success for all of those involved!
