El Paso-Topeka Affiliation = Jendras success story

Corey Jendras started out like a house on fire as a Rhino collecting 99 points in just 32 games, it's no wonder he got called up to the Rhino's NAHL affiliate Santa Fe Roadrunners.

After finishing up the season, Jendras returned to the now Topeka Roadrunners amnd has continued his high level of play which started out with him picking up a spot on the NAHL All Showcase Team in September.

Jendras went on to lead the Roadrunners in scoring (9th in NAHL), and goals (7th in NAHL), PP Goals (1st in NAHL), PP assists (6th in NAHL).

"We knew Corey would be one of the top players in our league, and we knew he had the tools to be an impact player at the next level. Corey is our first success story as an affiliate with Topeka, he received good coaching here and it continued with (Topeka Head) Coach Langer. We work closely with Coach Langer and try to develop our kids to move up to Topeka, and he gives us the kids that aren't quite ready yet so they can get ice time, and keep developing. All our players are invited to try out in Topeka every year, and the ones that don't stick are urged to comeback. Corey's success has been more than we could have even imagined, but it's testament to Corey himself, his work ethic goes along with his talent. The sky is the limit for him". - Rhino's Head Coach Cory Herman

"We could see we had a stud with Corey, he's fast, hard shot, always in good offensive position to shoot, and just has a nose for finding the net. We knew (Topeka Head Coach Scott Langer) Smacky would love him. We want our players to feel like when you come to El Paso you are taking a step in the right direction for you as a player, we want to move them up. Jendy just kept wanting to be better, and in this type of environment if you have the drive, you will succeed, and Jendy certainly had the tools and drive". - El Paso Rhinos Director of Player Personnel Trevor Converse

"These last 2 years have been like a dream, it started in El Paso with Trevor Converse and Coach Herman, and then it continued here in Topeka. You always hope you can move up as a player, but the network that Coach Langer, Coach Herman and Trevor Converse have set up it's really like a farm system in baseball. I never felt like I was making a bad move or an ill advised decision, so they all decided when the right time to move me up was, talked to me about it, and here I am".  - Corey Jendras

Corey now has his sights on helping Topeka win the NAHL Robertson Cup Championship. "We are trying to stay hot in the playoffs like we were at the end of the season", "it would be a great ending for us to be able to bring the cup to Topeka, the fans have been awesome and it would be great to be able to bring it (Robertson Cup) home to Topeka. It;s a great place to play.
