To kick off November’s set of home series, El Paso will take on the Utah Outliers in a Dia de los Muertos themed series on November 9, 10, and 11. The Rhinos and Outliers series will be a rematch of last season’s Thorne Cup Round Robin game in which El Paso topped Utah to advance to the Thorne Cup semi-finals.
The Rhinos will come into the series looking to rebound after being swept by the Long Beach Bombers last weekend. On Friday, the Rhinos tied the game three different times, forcing a shootout. In the shootout, however, Bombers Tuan Thanh Hoang and Erik Sillerstrom both slipped pucks past Nils Velm, giving the Bombers a 5-4 game one win. On Saturday and Sunday, El Paso was held to one goal during each game, allowing the Bombers to sweep the Rhinos.
The Utah Outliers, who currently ranked second in the Mountain Division, enter Rhino Country having routed the Cheyenne Stampede last weekend. Throughout three games, they only allowed one goal despite posting 26 points.
For the first two games of the series this weekend, the Rhinos will wear Dia de los Muertos themed jerseys that will be auctioned off following Saturday’s game. Fans will also have a chance to win one of these game-worn jerseys in the Jerseys off Our Backs promotion.
