The Somerset Patriots are looking for some great people for the following positions:
Assistant Groundskeeper
Position: The Somerset Patriots are hiring a full time seasonal assistant groundskeeper to help with maintaining the field and grounds at TD Bank Ballpark. Ideal candidate should have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and an interest in becoming a head groundskeeper. Applicants should have knowledge of grounds equipment use and proper turf maintenance practices. Candidates must reside or have access to housing within reasonable commuting distance of the ballpark. Students in winter certificate programs can apply if they are able to work full time during the season.
Schedule: Employment runs from 3/15-11/19. Applicants should be willing to work long hours in various weather conditions and must be available for all games and events scheduled including nights, weekends, and some holidays. Hours are typically 9am-5pm on non-game days and 9am-11pm on most game days. Off days are scheduled during the season when the team is on the road.
Job Description: Assist with all aspects of field / grounds maintenance including infield dirt and clay work, edging, field painting, mowing, tarp pulls, landscaping, seeding and fertilizer apps, sod repair, irrigation repair, set up for practice / games and events, and other duties as assigned. Assistant also will help oversee game day staff, track grounds inventory, help prepare annual budget, and plan monthly field maintenance.
Compensation: Offers a competitive salary and is eligible for company benefits plan. Reimbursement is also provided for approved continuing education classes, licenses, and association dues.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 yrs or older and able to meet physical demands of job
- 1-2 yrs experience in turf maintenance (prior baseball experience preferred)
- Completion of 2 or 4 yr turf program or similar degree required
- Must live or have access to housing at own expense near Bridgewater, NJ
- Adherence to company handbook and policies

COMMUNITY MASCOT
The Somerset Patriots are looking for a creative, energetic and talented performer to fill the role of a community mascot. The performer’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Representing the Patriots in the community at various off site functions.
- Picking up and returning mascot suit for each appearance
- Taking care of mascot suit while in possession
- Must have own method of transportation to and from community appearances
- Flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends
- Other duties as assigned by Patriots management
Applicants should possess:
- Strong interpersonal skills, especially with children
- Be self-motivated, creative and able to perform in front of large crowds
- Previous experience as a mascot or performer preferred but not required
- Very reliable
- Physically fit
