RailCats bring back Woodworth for 2022 season 

Gary, IN - The Gary SouthShore RailCats have signed infielder Michael Woodworth. The infielder will be back for his second season in Gary.  

“We’ve got a lot of work to do to return the RailCats back to the standard of winning expected here, and signing Michael is a great start,” said manager Greg Tagert. 

During the 2021 season Woodworth batted .367 with a .429 on-base percentage in 31 games. He finished the season with 44 hits in 120 at bats including eight doubles, two triples, and two home runs.  

“Unfortunately, Michael had to endure through multiple injuries last season that cost him a number of games, but as we saw, when he returned to the line-up, he made a significant difference with our club,” Tagert continued.  

The Alameda, CA native was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 29th round of the 2019 MLB June Amateur Draft out of the University of Connecticut. He played in 66 games during 2019 for the Beloit Snappers, Vermont Lakemonsters, and AZL Athletics Gold.
