CRAZY EIGHTS

The Monarchs scored a season-high eight goals Friday night against the Grizzlies in an 8-3 victory at Maverik Center. Coming into the game, Manchester had tallied eight goals over the past four games combined. In one night, the Monarchs increased their average goals per game from 3.39 to 3.63, having now scored 69 goals in 19 games.

ROAD WARRIORS

Manchester improved their road record to 7-2-1-1 with last night’s victory. In fact, the farther away the Monarchs travel, the better their record gets, with their two regulation losses on the road coming at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., at the hands of the Worcester Railers. The Monarchs are tied for the most road points in the league with 16 and lead the league with 48 goals scored on the road.

SPECIAL TEAMS MISMATCH

The Monarchs lit the lamp three times on the power play Friday night, and pushed themselves to 6th in the league, scoring on 19.4% of their opportunities. Utah’s power play comes into the game ranked 25th in the league converting at 11.9%, scoring on only 10 of their 84 power-play chances. The Monarchs penalty kill enters tonight at 87%, good for 5th in the league.

DEFENSIVE SCORING

Utah defensemen Cliff Watson (13 points) and Taylor Richart (12 points) are in the top-15 in points for defensemen in the league. The rookie, Watson, is 8th in the league in points and leads all defensemen with 60 shots on goal. Richart sits 12th in the league in points and is tied with Colorado Eagles defenseman Matt Register for the league lead in goals by a defenseman with seven.
