MOVING ON

The fourth seeded Monarchs are moving on to the second round of the playoffs for the fifth time in franchise history and for the first time since winning the Calder Cup (AHL) in 2015, after defeating the Adirondack Thunder in six games, 4-2. The Brampton Beast will host the Monarchs for the opening two games of the North Division Finals after defeating the Reading Royals in six games, 4-2. The Beast are making their first ever appearance in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

TALE OF THE TAPE

Despite playing in the same division, the Monarchs and Beast only met three times in the regular season, including the two final games of the year. The Monarchs came out of those games with a 1-1-1-0 record, including a 6-5 overtime loss at SNHU Arena on Feb. 24. Overall, the Monarchs outscored the Beast, 13-12, over the three games and forced Brampton to go 1-for-13 on the power play.

TOP-NOTCH SCORERS

The Monarchs will have their hands full with the duo of David Vallorani (32g, 51a) and David Pacan (41g, 41a). In the regular season, the two combined for 165 points (73g, 92a) and ranked 5th and 6th respectively in the league in points. Manchester will look to take a page out of Reading’s playbook, as the Royals were able to shut down the top two Brampton scorers in the opening round, allowing only two assists for Pacan and one goal for Vallorani in the six
